Japan canon fellowship

The Japan-Africa Programme by the Canon Foundation in Europe is a fellowship that supports academic and research exchange between Japan and African countries. It is designed for postgraduate scholars and researchers who want to carry out research in Japan or Africa.

Who can apply?

Researchers and postgraduate scholars from African countries who want to conduct research at a Japanese university.

Researchers from Japan who want to conduct research at an African institution.

Projects that promote scientific research, knowledge exchange, and development in Africa are prioritized. Apply here

Funding

Successful applicants receive:

Financial support of approximately €22,500–€27,500 per year.

The amount is adjusted according to the length of the fellowship.

Research periods can range from 6–8 weeks up to 1 year.
